I was servicing my servers and realized I have the Dell SD card board on almost all my servers just sitting there unused I was wondering if it was a good idea to run XCPNG from that since esxi is supported using that method. I already have Idrac enterprise on all my servers so that functionality is available and doing this would give me back some nvme slots from optane modules to add more nvme. Anyone got any experience with this?
It should work, but I would be concerned about wearing out the SD cards due to all the logs writing.
It and Truenas will work, but not sure it would be my first choice. Makes a nice recovery drive if you put an OS on there that you can boot from iDRAC.
