Hi to everyone. I have the two DELL R7610 with 2xE5-2670, 128 GB RAM, 2 x 200GB SSD and 4x600GB 10k HDD’s, and dual 10Gbe NIC’s (fibre optic), Also I have available 2 Fujitsu Primergy RX300 S5 with 2xX5504, with 64 GB RAM, 8x600GB 10k HDD’s and also Dual 10 Gbe NIC’s. (fibre optic). Also I can have 2 MikroTik CRS305-1G-4S+IN optical switches for connections. I was thinking setting up the DELL’s as XCP-NG Hypervisors and the RX300’s with TrueNAS Scale for Storage. Would these be enough to setup a HA setup or at least something resembling that? Both sets of machines (1 DELL, 1 RX300, 1 Mikrotik) will be in two different buildings with 4 fibre optic connections available.
Is it doable and if yes is there a bit of documentation to see how to do it? I was thinking a scheme like this:
Is it viable?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance
I have a few questions.
- Are you planning on the truenas scale deployments to be in HA? Or are you using them as 2 separate iscsi/NFS targets?
- If this is going to be in 2 different buildings is this still the same local network or is this a different site altogether?
I was thinking on having them as NFS targets. Although we are talking for two different building it’s only one Local Area Network. I have available 6 direct connections with Fibre optic between the two buildings. So I thought I would use 2 of those direct connections on each side. So every one of the servers has two F.O NIC’s So XCP-NG 1 will be connected with MICROTIK 1 and MICROTIK 2 the same for all the others. Those 4 servers and 2 switches will make their own lan for syncing purposes only. Then they will be connected to the rest of the lan with CAT 6 to the Main LAN switches. The main lan switches between the two buildings also have a direct Fibre optic connection.
