XCP-NG VM disk deleted - any way to recover?

A friend has been trying out XCP-NG and learning about creating VMs. One of those VMs is an old Win7 host to drive an old USB plotter. I spend hours getting the USB passthrough from the host to the VM working… all was good.

They they, while learning, deleted the VM’s boot volume from local storage. I took snapshots, but no backups. Xen Orchestra was on the learning path.

So I think they are stuffed - but on the off chance I thought I would ask - if a VM can re-attach a deleted storage volume?

I will see that they get backups going.

Not really any way to do this if it was deleted, not just detached.

Was there important data on the VM?
