Hi everyone! I know that we’re not supposed to do much with Dom0 on xcp-ng hosts, but I’m curious if it’s possible / okay to run an NFS server on Dom0? I’m not quite brave enough to use the ZFS SMAPIv3 beta driver yet, and am looking for a way to make some ZFS storage available to VMs on a single host without a separate NAS…
Not sure what you mean. You can install the zfs package and configure zfs via command line.
Sorry if my message was unclear. I know that ZFS is packaged for xcp-ng, I was curious about how bad an idea it would be to directly export files from dom0 via NFS. I posted the same question on the xcp-ng forum and Olivier said the short answer was “don’t”, so I’m going to take his advice. I figure this follow up post could still be useful in case anyone else is wondering the same thing.
Dom0 is built for security purposes. It is supposed to isolate itself from VM’s and other things outside the software stack.
