Xcp-ng add additonal ip to managment interface in different vlan

Hi forum,
hi Tom,

is there a way to add an additional ip address to the xcp-ng managment interface with a vlan tag?

I have several dedicated servers rented in a data center which are running xcp-ng. Threfore I have some hardware restrictions. Only one physical NIC is one of them, but I can add VLANs to the configuration to make the different vms on different xpc-ng hosts speak to each other in a vlan. This is working fine so far, but I’m wondering if it is possible to have an management vlan where I can add an additioanl IP of the xapi connection of the xcp-ng host.

This woul have the benefit, that I can connect multiple xcp-ng server in a server pool rather than have them running as single host.

I don’t want to lose my connection over the public ip (of course not open to the world) , which is my fallback if the xoa on the host is not reachable. This would be the case if I would change the management interface via xsconsol into the VLAN.

In XOA I didn’t see any options. In the xcp-ng Center was a bit more of IP configuration settings, but nothing to add additonal management IPs. Maybe it is possible over the cli directly? I think it can’t be rocket science to add an additonal IP or am I wrong here?

tl,dr
Is it possible to have multiple IP adresses in different vLANs to manage the xcp-ng host?

Thank you in advance and greetings from Germany,

You can create the VLAN in the pool and then assign the host the IP

Hi Tom,

thank you for your response.

How do I set the IP in VLAN?

I want to add an additional IP to the VLAN “MGMT_XCP_Server” VLAN-ID 4010.

Thank you in advance,
Dominik

As in the video I posted above click the MODE column for the IP settings.

Wow, I couldn’t find that.
Thank you for your patience :vulcan_salute:

This setting is a bit hidden, a pencile to show its editable would be very helpflul.

Thank you very much,
Greetings from Germany,
Dominik
