Why is mix mode WPA2+3 better than WPA2?

Hello, I hope someone can help clarify something for me.
My understanding is that (unless client isolation is enabled) all devices that successfully join my wifi network will be able to talk to each other (since that traffic never reaches my firewall). If that’s the case, I really don’t see how using mix mode WPA2+3 is any better than simply using WPA2. If a malicious device can connect to my network using WPA2, then it has access to my network. What benefit is there for WPA3 compatible devices in this scenario?
In other words, isn’t the whole network as secure as its weakest encryption standard ?

Thanks!

WPA2 is vulnerable to interception attacks, so less devices connecting via WPA2 reduces your risk exposure.

WPA3 has better encryption, but many legacy devices do not support it.

If you enable WPA2/3 mixed, newer devices will connect via WPA3 and older legacy devices can still connect via WPA2.
