Which Filebrowser on TrueNAS

The File Browser app on Truenas is now listed as depricated.

Why?

Which File browser do ya’ll now use?

FileBrowser Quantum?

Honestly, break away from using the apps function within TrueNAS and you will have a lot more freedom and flexibility. You can run docker from the command line the same as any other Debian install. Or as I like to do, I just installed Portainer on trueNAS, and roll my own stacks. If you do that you can still use file browser. The docker image was not discontinued. Its still out there.

For me I don’t need to rely on a container to have a file browser in the web. I use SFTP to connect to the folders from my PC which runs linux. You can also use other protocols like SMB or NFS to achieve the same goal.

Sure I know you can run docker and I’ve done that with some apps was just curious that’s all - whats goin’ on with TrueNAS apps …it’s a kind of indicator that one for me.. I mean no serious file browser support …now not even one supported in the app store??? … for a NAS platform!!! What the!!!

Per this site:

This is why it’s been depricated

Reason: Upstream has archived the project and is no longer maintained.

It’s was never a project the TrueNAS team maintained.

Now that TrueNAS 26 is now at beta three I will probably make a video on the new WebShare system that they do maintain:
