Hi all
I have always been in the hardware corner and networking… and only jumped in a few times to give an extra hand for setting up windows clients… on the server side, i have only handle the hardware setup, maintenance, repair or replacement/upgrades… My coworkers did the software part and i never saw what they did as i was busy with my stuff.
But now i have started to dip my toes in the setup of the servers software/OS’s… (home-lab on my spare time) and i have been using Linux as daily driver for six years… so I’m not totally noob on Linux and windows
But you guys that actually does this for a living with setting up servers
My question is… If i want to set up 5-10 servers for a cluster server solution with load balancing…
What OS’s is commonly used and what software to go for?
If there is more then one solution or several use cases , I’m happy to hear about them all as i want to dig in to more then one solution for learning.
I dont expect you guys to hold my hand with a step by step guide, (even if i would love to have a guide to follow as starting point).
but a point in the right direction would be appreciated, so i can save a week or three of dead end googling.
Take care you all
//Marie
Edit:
(I will be using old HP servers in my lab)
