WebUI Performance Drop After Upgrading to ElectricEel 24.10

I was excited to upgrade to 24.10 and migrate some docker apps like everyone else but after upgrading I realized that the webUI is either very slow or unresponsive. One such thing I noticed is that menus may not show up when loading the page (see image) or it may get hung up. Also, another thing is that the UI would freeze when configuring the dashboard.

Anyone has any tips on how to fix this. It been fine prior to upgrading.

Not something I have experienced. I saw you posted on the truenas forums. Maybe they will have an answer.

Us the built in Netdata app under reporting to see what processes might be causing an issue.

Thanks for replying. Yeah I checked net data but no anomalies nor alerts come up. It was pretty stable on the prior version. Also, my only challenge is the dashboard and the load time for some menus.

Update:

  • I found that if I did a fresh install of the latest version of ElectricEel, the UI works perfectly, however once I uploaded my backup, it went back to being slow to respond. I did not make any changes to TrueNAS beside upgrading.
  • I also deployed my second redundant box and it work without any issue with the same boot media.

My question now, is if I were to do a fresh install, would importing the pool allow me to get back my vms and apps ?
I figure I would have to reconfigure the shares but that’s easier that looking app configs.

Update:

  • I went and did the fresh install as I was not sure where the issue was stemming from honestly.
  • This has resolved my issue and it has been working perfectly ever since.

Answer to my question:

  • Everything work perfectly in getting my vm and apps set back up because I followed Tom’s advices is setting up severything with “host paths”.
