I have been supplying and supporting 3cx systems for 10 years and have to migrate to something else.
Any ideas/comments on other platforms with failures or success
Something similar features and price points. I have primarily been using the enterprise versions of 3cx, but not all those features are necessary.
I have been testing several other product lines yeastar, grandstream, vitalpbx, freepbx. Other turnkey cloud solutions so far seem to be way out of reach (2.5-5x the cost) when I look at cost per extension
I’ve been using FreePBX at my office for the past decade or so and have set up a couple systems elsewhere. It’s been pretty straightforward and reliable.
one other option that piques my interest, though, is FusionPBX. It’s to FreeSwitch what FreePBX is to Asterisk. I’ve toyed with it a little and it’s quite nice and can be setup as a multi-tenant system. May be worth a look.
I ended up going with a purely cloud reseller solution based on netsapiens platform. It is very different from the 3cx world. But so far, its a very developed and working solution.
I tested yeastar P-Series on-prem and cloud, Grandstreams UCM cloud and UCM-63x, PortSIP, IncrediblePBX, FreePBX, Isabela, FS PBX, Fanvil Cloud, RingQ. Vodia. Some features I like with many of these, but provisioning phones are rather dismal compared to 3cx. Yeastars cloud platform was about the closests, but it still feels like a new developing product that has some bugs. PortSIP and RingQ have some real potential if they get the product to a true production model.
I moved my small office from 3CX to Unifi Talk about a year ago. I was able to use my legacy Yealink phones after buying a Unifi ATA. I already had the Unifi network so it was kind of a no-brainer, but I could not be happier.
I am in the same situation. I have a couple instances on 3CX. Their product is super stable, but their management and partner program is abysmal…always moving the target. They are NOT partner friendly. Chis at Crosstalk has a YT video on exactly that.
My top vendors at the moment are SkySwitch, NUSO (Netsapiens), Yeastar, and maybe Ringlogix. I am just a small MSP, might not be able to always make minimums required by some…on-going talks on that with these vendors about that. Not yet sure how it will play out.
I have gone with Viirtue (netspaiens backend). So far I have moved over 8 of my offices (88 endpoint phones). I have had some hickups, but overall it’s going okay. My objective is to be able to manage easily and deploy devices as touchless as possible.
Some advantages,
I don’t use an SBC boxes inside the offices anymore, reducing physical equipment
Actual Support people you can talk to and they response to high priority especially when first deploying
Single point management and SIP trunks, they host it all, true multi-tenant.
Really good support and sales staff to work with, even if you dealing with a complaint on how a ticket is being handled or the system works. I moved very quickly on the onboarding process so that I avoid having to renew 3cx license and they were very accommodating
Disadvantages
deploying setup not as slick and pretty as 3cx
unable to access back end details logs and phone devices hitting the pbx
limited support for phones, they really prefer yealink and poly (which I don’t have many of either), so I have had to dig into detailed configs for my own devices (mostly snom). So if you have any snom D717/735/D785 D812/D862 M300/M400 Dect I have plenty of info I can pass along
Neutral
Overall my pricing will end up being most expensive with Viirtue, but not by much, even though the model is per user
If you are a small MSP like myself and are interested in joining my deployment I am interested in adding. Or even if you want a live test domain I am willing to create a test for you for very minimal cost
