VMS - Preference

Hello all,

Have a customer with multiple locations, random NVR/DVR setups at each. Main location has a Sennstar. We are looking to replace it. Most cameras are Hikvision or similar

Location 1 - Main - 71 Cameras, customer is looking to add 20-25 more; Mostly standard dome cameras, some PTZ
Location 2 - About 30 Cameras, no additional at this time
Location 3 - About 24 Cameras, no additional at this time
Location 4 - About 40 Cameras, no additional at this time
Location 5 - About 30 Cameras, customer is looking to add about 5 more

Looking to condense all of these systems to one. I’m familiar with Milestone, and have used it before. But never multi-location.

I’m looking for a VMS that has the following:

  • Supports multi-location; Can view each location all-together or separately from the same app
  • Isn’t Axis priced
  • Is not Verkada or Similar; We are not replacing all the cameras
  • Can use either the existing cameras or NVRs; If possible, the NVR as a whole to join to a console or similar.
  • Decent, easy to use app
  • Web GUI or similar, OR a decent app that can view multiple cameras that can be flipped through

Price isn’t really a problem. Just not looking to rip and replace everything at this time.

Even thought UniFi now supports third party cameras it requires buying lots of AI Port devices to make they do more than just full time record. I have always liked and still use lots of Synology setups as they have very broad camera support.

Unifi Protect is not the option for you, if you do not want to change the cameras

You may have issues trying to get the the cameras in protect, requires onvif.

Recording is record all, no events recording unless you spend massive amounts on AI Ports - in which case you may as well replace the cameras with unifi

As above, if you want to change look at synology surveillance
