Yes, looks interesting but I have not got to really test it out yet.

I played with it on a very old machine with Intel i3 530 cpu and 4Gb of ddr3 memory and no storage. Its fully operational once it boots up from usb stick. No installation needed. Image is only 68 megs in size. 300 megs uncompressed which is impressive.UI is very fast and very snappy. I could not test it fully because this machine only has one LAN card, but it looks like it has everything you need for solid web filtering, vlans, vpns, ids and dpi. Unfortunately, some of the dpi features are locked behind a pay wall

It has a pretty solid dns blocking setup out of the box which can be very interesting for new users that want basic adblocking.

All VPN protocols are covered. You can configure both clients and servers manually, or just import config files if you have them. This is a zone based firewall and im not really a fan of zone based systems.

Yesterday I installed NethSecurity 8.7.2 on my “Old” ACER AX3470 (with a Dual Port 10Gtek NIC), although I decided NOT to Enable the LuCI Interface…

Within my Initial Testing NethSecurity was Functioning quite well, although for me Two “Features” which are “Missing”: Tailscale and WOL!!!

Since its based on OpenWRT, all of those features can be installed by enabling OpenWRT repo and installing them via opkg package manager.

Given all of NethSecurity’s Packages are actually “Custom” Builds coming from nethserver.org Repositories and there is “Warning” about enabling the LuCI Web Interface, I would question whether mixing NethServer Builds with OpenWRT Builds might create “Problems”???

There is always a chance that something will go wrong. You know that, vendors know that. This is why they warn you. Its a polite way of saying that if you break something, dont expect any support. You are on your own.
