Have to admit the only real competition out there for Unifi is grand stream, having set up both for customers, only differences are…

  1. No direct sales with gs, no big deal
  2. Less of the bells and whistles compared to Unifi, again no big deal for most sme’s

But jeez… the cost diff for the same basic functionality with full local control is BIG!

Also GDMS is there as a voluntary option identical to Unifi for those who want more then local control

Also gs is just more boring then Unifi, but hey that’s a good thing in non home networks, that’s why I run Unifi at home

I was looking at pricing and Grandstream does seem to cost less for a 48 port POE but prices are not consistent depend on the reseller. But looking at a few puts the price around $949 for Grandstream and $1099 for UniFI.

The bigger challenge is their documentation seems to be lacking. UniFi is getting better with theirs but docs are a huger part of any setup.

They are more competitive at the smaller end of the sme market, with the gcc you get a lot of bang for the buck

Still it’s good to have an actual competitor to Unifi

Their is def a lack of docu, bit chicken an egg, but their are a few good forums to ask questions, like willie’s, and quick tech solutions moved over to gs from Unifi and some good stuff their and the people around him to help. He’s got a good link with gs technical too
