Been using meshcentral as my main customer support tool for a few years

amazing tool, and the dev although no longer working for intel still brings updates out (intel supported its development)

all clients connect to the meshcentral server either over tailscale or remotely over FQDN, restricted via a opnsense alias souce ip list

Has there been any breaking changes with all the Node updates over the years?

Non whatsoever Tom (i run it in a proxmox lxc backed up to pbs, so breaking changes not an issue really), i really respect Yilan as a developer

Only issues i have had in the past is with the client, easily fixed by putting the guest service to restart itself daily on permanently connected hosts and adding its folder to virus scanners exclusion list

The sheer breadth of the options available in the config.json file is vast ….. showing its long term pedigree. It was initally developed as an Intel AMT tool, so has had “a corporate developer mindset” from its start.

Yilan, worked for years at intel, developing meshcentral as part of his job remit, he left about two year’s or so ago at which point he posted an honest post on how he would carry on bringing updates but couldn’t commit in any way (still is). It was at this point that I wall’d of my meshcentral site to allowed source IP’s only

I use rustdesk alongside meshcentral, but find myslef using meshcentral all the time. It’s basic look is a good for me, it shows that all the “work hours” went into the backend

PS Yilan’s meshcentral videos are still up and are really well done
