I forget about linked in sometimes because I am mostly spammed with offers from “Full Stack Dev’s” or SEO Wizzards of some sort.

Yup, know what you mean scrapers almost as bad as robo calls. There is a good book from No Starch Press " The Practice of Network Security Monitoring" First printing 2013 should be an updated edition out. Doug Burkes has done a good job improving the online docs though. He would be a great guest on How They Got Hacked.
