Virtual Lab and Home NAS build

Looking at Refurbished Dell PowerEdge R710 in the 6 Bay 3.5 Inch variety. Looking at setting up xc-png on it to allow for setting up both a NAS for backups as well as a Virtual Lab for testing different Scenarios. Do you think this would be a good setup? I understand the ram it a bit of an overkill but you can’t have too much.

I think it would be sufficient. What type of NAS you planning on virtualizing? xcp-ng doesnt require much. I think I gave the DOM like 4Gb ram. Most VM’s I’m using within xcp-ng are ubuntu which I’ve allocated 1-2Gb of ram for testing. Xen-orchestra which I set up on virtualized Ubuntu installation I allocated only 1gb which seems to work ok.

Looking at using FreeNAS
