I have two suggestion but I am sure you can make it in one video.
-
Connecting only one pc to Freenas with 10GB NIC for main workstation but let other server connects with 1gb NIC, so it is more budget friendly for home users.
-
Connecting one truenas to other truenas for remote offsite backup using zfs replication.
I was thinking to just use two RJ45 10G nic and connect using cat 6 cable directly. Is there a way to do?
and on replication, I was suggesting more like offsite somewhere on friend’s networks.
For the 10G just assign each of the interfaces static IP address in the same subnet range such as 192.168.10.20/24 & 192.168.10.21/24 then plug in the cable.
For the replication you connect the servers via their IP address. So to have a second TrueNAS at another location you could use a site to site VPN of which I have a video for here https://youtu.be/-8xt7LUtYH4 (3 years old but should still be relevant.)
