What hardware/Software do I need to run my UVC-G5-PTZ with the Protect Application. Can the Protect Application run on a self hosted Server (i.e. Container / VM)?

Protect can not be run on a self hosted server

You need Unifi NVR device to run protect - Ubiquiti Store

The UniFi NVR is great, but it may be overkill for a single camera. Other options include their Cloud Gateways and Dream Machines. If you don’t want to replace your firewall/router, the CloudKey+ (UCK-G2-SSD) could be an option as well
