Utility Rackmount Server Hardware - Vendors

Typically I use Dell servers for client, production level server hardware, but at times I may need something not so enterprise, maybe to run a Windows Domain Controller, or Backup Server, etc. For those types, I normally would look at SuperMicro, ABMX, or a build-up with motherboard manufacturer such as ASRockRack, SuperMicro, ASUS, etc. Just wondering where you all go to for these type of items. What vendors are your favorites? Note. Mostly using in a Windows environment, but sometimes Linux. Also not looking for used or backdated equipment. With Windows, needs to be compatible with Win Server 2022 at least.

If it’s important, Supermicro.

If it’s trivial, I may buy a thin client or something like that.

I have a few ASUS boards that came in as an “appliance” that seem to be OK depending on what you need.

You can also run stuff on mini-pc like Mele Quieter 3Q, you’d be surprised by how much work these little fanless devices can perform for smaller systems.
