Hi, I just bought a lattepanda sigma 32gig SBC which comes with an Intel Core i5-1340P and would like to be able to run Proxmox or XCP-NG on it for a home lab. In the end I would like to run WAZUH for security monitoring using a docker container as well as some small vm’s for security testing. No more than 4 vm at any one time. The bottom line question is can this be done with the hardware listed above. Thanks in advance for the input. All is welcome.
Technically, most likely the answer is yes. The CPU supports VT-x and VT-d, so I don’t see a problem installing a hypervisor and running VMs. Whether you’ll be satisfied with the performance is a different question. 4 performance cores @ 4.6 GHz turbo doesn’t sound all too bad on paper for light workloads.
Yes, only planning to use the meta sploit boxes for security testing and learning. Nothing taxing with them and often not on all the time. On the other hand being able to use WAZUH for my home set up is more important. I will have less than 10 agents sending data back and maybe some log files from my pfSense and Ubiqiti boxes. Any thoughts?
