Unifi switches : utility category

comparing new ULTRA with Lite and Flex.

what I see is that Lite 8/16 version has more L2 functions then Flex mini and new Ultra. So I think that new Ultra is more Flex then Lite.

here are features from LITE

IGMP snooping
STP / RSTP with priorities and port-level disable
Port isolation
Storm control
Voice VLAN
Port mirroring
LACP port aggregation
Multicast / broadcast rate limiting
MAC address blocking
Flow control
802.1X control
Jumbo frames
Proprietary loop protection
DHCP snooping / guarding
Egress rate limit
LLDP-MED
Port restricted by MAC
Device isolation with ACLs

and these are from Flex and Ultra

Port isolation
Storm control
Port mirroring
Multicast / broadcast rate limiting
Flow control
Jumbo frames
Egress rate limit

Are those missing features critical for small company. They just need good network and not doing special. Thanks

I would think having STP/RSTP would be mandatory for most business to trap network loops. LACP can be important if a NAS or server is in use with multiple simultaneous users. The Lite switches are just more fully featured for longevity and expandability. The Ultra switch is OK for if you have a large POE budget but I’d still rather have the Lite feature set. The flex mini is OK at the end of a run for masic use…home theater, TV…that sort of thing. I’ve had issues, noise and error messages, with the flex mini when close to the router and trying to act as a trunk port and trunk port passthrough. The lite switch fixed these issue for me.
