I have a US-16-XG 10G switch which 3 weeks ago started turning off all the ports. Would run fine for 2-3 minutes then all port lights go out, no activity and all on the ports, computers indicate no connection. Then they come back on and work for another 2-3 minutes and the cycle continues. There are no changes made, no updates, etc and does it even if only one DAC cable is plugged in.
I purchased a new switch to fix the issue.
Then yesterday my Switch 24 started doing the exact same thing. Luckily I had another that only had a few ports used and was able to move the others over.
Anyone seen this before? Are my switches toast? They don’t stay connected long enough to be able to log in and read the log files.
I’d see if you can get them RMA’d. But it does sound strange that it happened to 2 switches. Maybe a rain storm might have got them?
They are on UPS so should not be affected by any surges. They are quite a few years old now so they won’t take them back under warranty. In fact the US-16 is not made anymore and had to shell out for 24 port 10G switch.
The power might be, but the NICs would not be. If lightning struck you house or business then it can strike through the NICs themselves.
We had cisco switch that was acting the same way and we did had a power glich and it made them go off and then had major network storms. So I replaced them with Unifi switches and no issue since the replace ment. The swiches i have replaces was a little over 16 years old.
