UniFi Protect NVR coexist with own local controller?

Considering UniFi Protect, should they actually become available.

Questioning if adding UniFi Protect cameras controlled by UniFi NVR will play well together with USW and Unifi APs currently managed by a self hosted Unifi Network OS (aka unifi controller) (Debian 10 + deb http://www.ubnt.com/downloads/unifi/debian stable ubiquiti).
My firewall is pfSense.

It’s October 2023, and I’m running into the same question/issue.

I just bought a G4 Doorbell and UNVR, and it is asking me to setup [the doorbell] in the Protect app. I open the app, but it appears to be looking for a UniFiOS Console. It does not recognize I have a self-hosted controller.

My controller can see the NVR, but I can’t adopt it.

Hopefully @LTS_Tom has some insight into this.

That’s one of 2 issues I’m having (I’ll make a separate post for that).

The UniFi cameras and doorbell connect to the UniFi NVR, not the UniFi network controller.

Unifi NVR is a standalone unit, and has a web console to manage cameras and doorbells

If is not managed by Unifi Controller

Thank you. I just managed to get it all set up. I found that all the hard way. lol

I still don’t know why I was having all those issues. Meh, It’s working now. That’s all that matters.

Right now I got it connected to my main network. When I find time, I’ll try moving it to the camera vlan I created.
