I am “still” running version 8(.0.28) on a local Ubuntu server. I see 5 tabs under Settings > System : General | Updates | Backups | Administration | Advanced.
(As far as I know I am using the “modern” interface.)
Could this be:
Something new in version 9.* ?
A role/rights setting (since you do not see an Administration tab)
A difference between the “classic” and “modern” interface.
I know this one hurts : What happens when you search for “backups” in the search box? (If that is still there in version 9).
Solved. Thanks so much to info from all responders. This Forum is so good at providing answers to questions (even the dumb ones).
@techfossa nailed the problem I was seeing, it’s about permissions.
I have two accounts I can use to access the admin interface.
One of these is a local account with status “Site Administrator” not linked to a ui.com account (tbh created this to avoid the TFA which you have to use every time with the ui.com linked acct).
Plus an account linked to a ui.com account, with status “Administrator”. WIth this account I get the Backup tab.
So it seems that Site Administrators do not get to view the Backup options.
So in the web interface the Settings → System tabs are:-
General - Integrations - Updates - Backups - Advanced
The Backups tab shows the Autobackup configuration.
FWIW some info with this setup
Autobackups are made locally only, do not get copied into the ui.com backups location corresponding to the account
Location of Autobackups for a Docker installation
The web interface says backups are at this location - but this presumably is for situation where the app is installed directly in a server, not using Docker
/var/lib/unifi/backup/autobackup
With this line in the docker-compose.yml volumes section
