Unifi Network Application Migration 32 to 64 bit

Dear Comunnity,

I there a way to migrate the “site” or import a Backup to a controller that is running 64bit architecture? I was playing with it over the weekend but I couldn’t find a solution. I know I can start from scratch, but I have a few devices that need to be configured manualy and would be very happy if I could migrate the Site.

Thank you for your help!

What version of the Unifi controller are you currently running ?

Version 7.3.83

Linux pi.mlinko.eu 5.15.88-v7l+ #1617 SMP Mon Jan 16 15:31:51 GMT 2023 armv7l GNU/Linux

I’ve read that you need Mongo DB 3.4 (which can only run on a 64bit OS) to install the 7.4.140 Version - additionally the version has allot of bugs.

You backup your existing settings and restore them to the new controller - making sure the server has the same IP address

Hi,

I’ve tried it but it didn’t work, it refused the backup and the new site import. As I’ve understood there is a file “problem” between 32bit and 64bit. Is that true or did just someone make a false statement?

To my knowledge the backup file should be the same for either version.

Hi Tom,

I’ll try it out and let you know! Thx for the feedback!

I’ve had no issues exporting backups from the Gen1 Cloud Keys, which are arm32, to either Gen2 Cloud Keys (arm64) or amd64 installs.

Hi,

You were right, it worked. the only Problem I had was the installation of the Unifi Network Applicaiton, as it needs MongoDB 3.4 or 3.6, so I had to find it download it manually and then also install Libssl1.0.0. Whithout it the Mongo DB won’t work, the Bullseye image has alredy the Libssl1.1.0 installed.

Thank you for your help!

Glenn R has scripts to install Unifi , Update and install ssl certs

UniFi Installation Scripts | UniFi Easy Update Script | UniFi Let’s Encrypt | UniFi Easy Encrypt | Ubuntu 16.04/18.04/18.10/19.04/19.10/20.04/20.10/21.04/21.10/22.04/22.10/23.04 | Debian 8/9/10/11/12 | Ubiquiti Community

And since that isn’t clear from those posts, Glenn R is the same as UI-Glenn. He was an enthusiast who wrote those scripts, and then he became a Ubiquiti employee and still maintains the scripts.

Good to know thank you!!
