Unifi controller question

if you had to move from a 3rd part hosted unifi controller to your own internal controller what would you use? cKG2 or build something yourself(such as)?

6 switches and 18 APs

Depends. If you’ve got any server infrastructure already, I’d just run it in docker (which is what I do). Otherwise pretty much anything will do it. I’ve used a raspberry pi and an old laptop and a cloud key. A cloud key is certainly a good option if you note get something dedicated and don’t mind the price.

We use a dedicated VM in our own hosting environment, I don’t use the docker version due to it not being official from UniFi, but the controller is not hard to setup. The cloud keys work well if you are looking for a simple solution.

I used his exact method and self-hosted it on a Proxmox VM.

Installed Ubuntu Server, followed the video, and presto up and running.

I only have a Ubiquiti UniFi U6-Mesh at the moment - no switches, gateways, etc… BUT plan on getting more Ubiquiti hardware in the future!
