I created a Camlan following Tom’s complete Getting started installation guide.
The interface Camlan has a DHCP server and shows up on the Dashboard. If i cannect my laptop to the network It receives a IP but does not connect to internet .
The rules i used are exactly as the video.
Block- TCP Destination The Firewall 443
Pass - IPV4 ! LAN net Allow all traffic.
All cameras are currently on the Lan and work fine , i ma just trying to lock them dow on theire on network as i have space.
I have checked everythibng Over & Over and i cannot see where i am going wrong with the rules.
Thanks for your reply,
I connected my laptop to the cacble connected to the camlan and use terminal the answer was Server camlan 192.168.XX.1 address 192.168.xx1 #53 server can’t find google.com REFUSED.
I’m assuming you use pfSense as the DNS server. From the two rules you described it seems you don’t allow DNS requests from the camera network. You need to add a rule for that and also enable the DNS server for the respective interface (select the interface of the camera network in the multi-select box on the DNS resolver settings page).
If your allow rule is “not LAN” then what you are saying is “allow everything that is not LAN”. Which would mean you are blocking your your LAN address.
When i originally installed pfsense last year i had no problems and very thing worked. The only disfeerence this time is that i had to DMZ from my Virgin Medai fibre broadband Hub5x to PFS. ( not sure if this is causing the problem?)
As this is new install only a few days,I have noticed that there is no Rules on the WAN is this correct , could this be blocking this Interface?
I have removed the Block Rules but left the LAN rule - Allow all Traffic without the Lan Net still unable no connection.
All my devices/ cameras are on the Lan and are working well.
I receive a IP address from DHCP server and is listed on the dashboard & DHCP lease.
Any idea DNS Resover is enable and the Camlan is listed and set to ALL.
