Does anyone know if the Ubiquiti Promax 16 and Promax 24 work together with the interswitch vlan routing functionality? Its new to me, so i’m not sure what to ask.
The 24 says it offers it but only works with compatible switches. I don’t think it mentioned which switches it was compatible with on that regard.
What is the goal? Are you trying to setup layer three routing on the switch? Per their side it’s supported but they don’t list speeds so it might be faster to have the firewall handle it.
@Grok within a network you typically only have one switch set up for layer 3 configuration, even if multiple switches are capable of it. The exception is redundant paired switches using VPC/MLAG/etc plus VRRP/HSRP/etc, or the new Spine/Leaf topology used in datacenters, but Unifi doesn’t have any products that do that right now. But if you did have a topology reason to set up routing on more than one switch, there is not specific compatibility requirements between them because they’re just doing static routes. Unifi’s Layer 3 switch support doesn’t include any dynamic routing protocols; the OSPF options in the controller are purely for the gateway devices.
@LTS_Tom all the switches Unifi has that suppoer Layer 3 are doing it in the switch chip at wire speed / line rate. There are limitations on feature support, not speed.
I would prefer to set it at the network edge via firewall device but on the off chance that’s not an option I was just pondering my remaining choices. What I can do is entirely at the mercy of the equipment budget they allow me.
