Ubiquiti in K-12

We are small (~1100 student) district and are considering switching to Ubiquiti from Aruba, mainly due to cost of both the hardware and the required cloud controller with a subscription to manage local hardware. We already have a firewall, so we are looking to replace our switches and access points. I am curious if anyone has any feedback on reasons to stick with Aruba at nearly 5x the cost or if Ubiquiti would be sufficient for a dense environment like a school. We don’t need bells and whistle, we just need to move data from Chrome devices to the internet as fast and secure as possible.

Thanks!

UniFi switches all day long. I have deployed UniFi in about 18 locations for a company and it has saved me so much time and I saved the company thousands of dollars. We deployed our own UniFi controller to service all the locations.

All we needed was layer 2 on the switches anyway. Everything has been working great.

We have put A LOT of these in for schools. We did an entire school district about 2 year ago and it’s been working great for them compared to the Cisco/Meraki setup they had.
