I’ve made a big mistake and was wondering if it’s reversible.
I have 2 datasets. Dat1 & dat2. I have done a zfs replication from dat2/Media to Dat1 thinking it would create a Media zvol or something but has destroyed everything under Dat1 including all snapshots. Is it possible to restore the data under the dat1. I do have some of it backed up else where but there’s stuff that isn’t.
No, unless there is some snapshot that you can roll back to there is not a way to recover the overwritten dataset.

So is there no way to retrieve the snapshots that have been deleted from this?
Not that I am aware of.

Its been a while but i have managed to retrieve the data by utilising Klennet ZFS Recovery Software
I have tested multiple different annotations of ZFS recovery software but this hit the nail on the head.
