I just setup a TrueNAS SCALE box and am working on setting up apps for my services, webdav, syncthing, etc. However, I was hoping to be able to assign VLANs to each of these apps but I saw in one of lawrences videos that we can’t assign a specific interface to an app. Is that still the case?
I see that is the case with this menu you can create vlans but what can I associate with this? Has it been updated?

Current version you can not assign configured networks from truenas.
I believe this is changing in a future released
Yes, I think that feature should land in the new Fangtooh version that is hopefully going to be out in about a month.
Okay, thanks. What are the clear distinctions where you want to use an app over a VM?
I’m also assuming this isn’t an issue when creating a VM, and you can assign interfaces vlans to these without a problem?
I have not tested but I think you can attach the VM NIC to a VLAN

I went and dug up this article someone shared with me about when to use VMs vs. LXC. It’s written from the perspective of proxmox, but I imagine it would be relevant for TrueNAS.
