TrueNAS: Possible to move a drive to different SATA port?

In TrueNAS, is it possible to physically move a drive to different SATA port? If so, can it safely be done live? Will it cause the pool to re-silver?

I have a HotSwap bay with a now broken “door” and would like to move the drive that’s in there to an open bay.

Thanks!

Truenas does not care what drive is connected to which sata port. On boot up, it detects the hard drives and import detects the pool.

Do you have a hot swappable sas back plane, where you can swap drives when it is running.

If unsure switch the server off, and them move the drive

If you just pull the drive, it will probably be marked as “offline” and “pool degraded”. So when you put the drive back into a different port, you may need to go back into the pool and and “online” the drive at the new location. Safe thing would be to offline the drive, then pull it and move it. Safest thing would be to power the NAS down and move the drive.

I’ve never done this, so the above is just a guess based on what I’ve done when replacing drives in the pool.
