Hello All,
Seeking some advice, I’m preparing for my first serious FreeNAS build, I have all the hardware now in readiness and wondering if the build should be based on the latest release of FreeNAS, or should I go straight to a TrueNAS build, understating that one is officially released and the other is still beta ? Whats everyone thoughts on this ?

Depends on your tolerance on beta and release. If it’s mission critical then choose the stable version. If bugs and things not working properly is ok with you then go beta. I’m not saying truenas core is riddled with bugs, I’m just saying if you run into a bug then you’ll have to deal with it.
FreeNAS Stable version all the way.
And also Z2 Raid all the way. Faster and safer.
