Too many spam emails

Small MSP here and I’m seeing if anyone has a solution to cut down on spam. I have a few clients that seem to get quite a bit and I just spent an hour on the phone with one owner who is very frustrated about the amount of junk email he gets daily.

They are setup on M365 and we are using Huntress ITDR for security, but the volume is out of control for him. They have about 13 employees/mailboxes and somehow the bad actors have gotten a hold of their email addresses.

While Google is great on it’s own for spam filtering, Microsoft requires a 3rd party mail filter. We are currently using Checkpoint for mail filtering, I think we used to use Proofpoint, but they did not do that great of job.

Appreciate the info, Tom. I’ve also noticed that Microsoft’s built-in filtering often needs reinforcement, especially for small businesses without dedicated IT staff. It makes sense that you switched from Proofpoint if it wasn’t meeting expectations, some filters just let too much through. Curious if Checkpoint made a noticeable difference in spam volume after the switch. I’m looking into options that balance cost and performance, since smaller clients can’t always justify enterprise-level solutions.
