Thinking about getting the UniFi UNVR-Pro (2U)

I’m thinking about getting the UniFi UNVR-Pro (2U), but it originally came out around 2020. Do you think it’s still worth buying today, or would it be smarter to wait for a newer version if one might come out? Right now I’m running Blue Iris on Windows, and honestly I’m getting tired of dealing with the random hiccups that come with it. I’m looking for something more stable.

The biggest issue with waiting for something new to come out is that product releases are VERY MUCH stalled due to the memory shortage. This is not just a UniFi issues, but for any new products coming out.

While you are correct that the UNVR Pro is an older model the way UniFi does their surveillance system is a big different. The majority of the processing is being done in the camera do the NVR is mostly doing storage and not the processing and analytics of the video.

The UNVR-Pro looks like a solid option if you’re planning to run multiple cameras and want some room to scale later. The extra drive bays and rack format make it feel more like a proper long-term setup than the smaller NVR units. I’d mostly think about storage planning and noise levels depending on where the rack is located.
