The SMR Drive Discussion and companies are responding

Part two

And Western Digital replied to my video https://twitter.com/westerndigital/status/1253349740957372417

How does their statement follow for HGST drives?

Also it should be noted that there is a naming change happening CMR=PMR. This tripped me up recently and you may see both used in different product sheets as they get revised. See this link from Synology https://www.synology.com/en-us/knowledgebase/DSM/tutorial/Storage/PMR_SMR_hard_disk_drives

Pretty damning video from Serve The Home that I just finished… A 9 day rebuild with a 4tb SMR drive at 50 to 60 percent capacity. Half a day for similar CMR/PMR drive.

Yup, this is the kind of thing that makes it hard for those of us in the trenches. STH did an exceptional job exposing the deception.
