The aggregation switch of my dreams does exist

The port layout, port capabilities and POE budget are perfect. The budget is overkill maybe but I like it!

I’d go with a used/refurbished US-XG-16. You get only 12x SFP+ and 4x 10Gbps RJ45, but it also only costs 20% of the other switch.

I’d be inclined to agree BUT the PoE abilities and port layout/abilities have me sold. I’ve been waiting for something like this to come along for a years. It’ll be on my want list for a while for sure, meanwhile there are really interesting new switches coming out of UI’s development que like the PoE 2.5G with a potentially huge PoE budget for it’s size (199 dollars).
Ideally this switch would make up the backbone of my whole house smart home build.

I believe that an aggregation switch is not about PoE. The PoE capability would be in the switches connected to the aggregation switch.

Having said that, a refurbished US XG 16 together with a new Unifi Pro Max 24 give you that for still less than 50% of the price of the Enterprise switch you are loving.

As a general rule of thumb Aggregation and Core switches are about high speed ports (normally Fiber). These tend to focus on non-blocking scale. It would be very unusual to find PoE on one of these.

Access Switches are about PoE and copper ports. Normally with 2-4 SFP type uplink ports to feed into Aggregation/Core. Some vendors (Ubiquiti?) will call these Campus switches.
