Syncthing over the internet

Hi Tom,

You mentioned using Syncthing over the internet which is what i am trying to implement. I backup everything i own to my synology nas and then backup the synology to my local freenas box. i want to use syncthing to sync the backups on freenas to a virtual machine in a remote location. Is syncthing safe over the internet on its own or should i be using a vpn with it. The files syncing over will be encrypted. Thanks

I mean, Confidentail stuff I’d use a VPN still but…

Syncthing does use an encrypted protocol.
