What I do for my clients….

Run PBS as a VM on the same pmox host with a NFS share on a local NAS with its own backup system

Then install PBS bare metal on cheap hardware with data store on a local ZFS drive

In the PBSVM replicate the data store to the bare metal PBS using pull

For bullet proof, time the replication with WOL on the bare metal PBS then turn it off

Good just not for VM restore, but individual file restore too within VM’s

PS As for frequency/number of PBS’s in the “chain”…. Depends on how much money client wants to spend, one can even be a laptop taken offsite
