Suggestion: Video on self-hosting Unifi OS

Since a while the Unifi Controller is promoting to switch over to Unifi OS. I haven’t done so because I have no clue what problems I can expect to run into. So I was curious and searched for an according video on the Lawrence Youtube channel - and found none.

I am wondering why this topic has not yet been adressed. Is Unifi OS not worth self-hosting yet, or some other reasons?

It’s possible it hasn’t been addressed because it’s very similar to the existing videos out there for the older installs. You can still use the script by glennr, you just choose UniFiOS install instead. Then migrate your site(s). Here’s a link to the UniFi community post: https://community.ui.com/questions/UniFi-OS-Server-Installation-Scripts-or-UniFi-Network-Application-Installation-Scripts-or-UniFi-Eas/ccbc7530-dd61-40a7-82ec-22b17f027776

I just have not had time to get a video done on the new UniFi OS, but it is on my to do list.

FWIW, I upgraded my old style UniFi Network (self hosted) to UniFi OS, using Glenn’s script.

It went smoothly (on a Debian 12 VM).

I documented step by step on Glenn’s script thread: https://community.ui.com/questions/ccbc7530-dd61-40a7-82ec-22b17f027776?replyId=a20f6d41-d725-4db8-bd7e-c9814173f2d2
