SFP+ module not working with Unifi switch

Hey,

I have a new pfSense box which I was able to configure and connect to a Mikrotik CSS326-24G-2S+RM with a fiber SFP+ - both port on both the Mikrotik and the new pfSense box are working fine.

I now connected the new pfSense box to the existing Unifi US 16 PoE 150W but I’m getting no link (not even blinking lights). The same cables and transceivers do work in the US-16 if I create a loop between the 2 ports SFP+1 & SFP+2.

The transceivers I have are: QSFPTEK 10G SFP+ Multimode
And the cable is: DIGITUS DK-2533-01-4 OM4 LC/LC

Any ideas what could be the problem?

M.

I did realise that when connecting the transceivers and cable to the 2 SFP+ ports of the Unifi switch they seem to be recognised as GbE:

(of course I’m not expecting it to work, just for testing porposes)

Are you going plugging your module into a sfp+ port or is it a regular sfp? Also, did you buy a 10Gb fiber module or a 1Gb? This absolutely matters.

That switch does not support 10G / SFP+ so you need a 1G SFP module.

I was afraid of that - thanks @LTS_Tom

I connected my existing US-16’s port 1 to one of the ports of the new (pfsense) router. I see that the switch gets a new IP, as well as all connected access points. BUT even though I preserved the VLAN IDs, I am not able to get an IP (via DHCP defined int he router) via any of the WIFI networks…
