I haven’t done an extensive search on this subject in a while… With all the newer Windows emulations for games and stuff, is there a way to install Microsoft RSAT tools on a Linux host? And no I do not mean by running a VM on a Linux host, stand alone RSAT within Linux through the use of something similar to Wine, Bottles, etc.
This is a hard no. Even if you could try and get wine or bottles to work, you are probably going to run into issues. Though, on the other hand you can install powershell on some linux distributions.
In my opinion if you are going to use RSAT, why not simply log into the domain controller and configure it there anyway? Takes you 2 extra seconds. And if you have some crazy configuration on your MMC simply run it on the DC.
Looks like I can get some things through Windows Admin Center, if they really work. I was looking to avoid going through rdp if possible, but looks like this is still the answer.
Doing some training on hyper-v and looking for ways to manage it if I decide against installing the desktop experience on the hosts. This cluster will probably get built and burned down multiple times before I’m done.
