Question Regarding the "Pausing Your VPN" Short

I just watch the “Pausing Your VPN” YouTube short. Are there some configurations that pausing the VPN does kill the connection?

I have a VLAN setup with a route that routes all traffic through a VPN client. If the VPN is paused, and I ping 8.8.8.8 from within a VM on that VLAN, I get no returns. If I resume the VPN client, pings work. And, if I pause it again, pings stop.

Am I testing this incorrectly or something?

Maybe, I have suggested they fix the behavior and as of version 10.1 I tested it not with a full network, but with devices under the policy route and found that it was still acting as I said in the video.
