PiVPN Image Backup

I have PiVPN installed, and set up on a Raspberry Pi. I wanted to take an image backup of the SD card, but when I put it into Windows system there are 2 Partitions. I see a lot of recommendations to use Win32 Disk Imager, but I don’t see a wait to clone the whole disk. I was able to use a 3rd party software Active Image Backup to reach my goal, but I would like to use something that doesn’t require a software license.

Have you taken a look at these examples How to Clone Your Raspberry Pi SD Card for Foolproof Backup

Both Win32 and Linux “dd” versions work.

Win32 Disk Imager clones the whole SD card, whether data is used or not.

But if you try to restore to a different SD card, that has one sector less than the original, it will fail (at least that’s the way I remember it).

Don at NovaSpirit Tech has an old tutorial on shrinking before backups. Someone has a script to make it more automatic. Backup and Shrink your Raspberry Pi Image
