pfSense - Weird Issues

Hi All
In the process of moving firewalls in my cloud cluster. Currently everything runs through opnsense but im having a few issues with it so im switching to pfsense.

Ive had pfsense work in my homelab before so i dont think im doing anything wrong here but basically its acting strange. Heres a list of issues ive picked up on so far

  • LAN traffic sort of working but not (I can resolve domain names and ping google.com but cant reach google.com as a website)
  • Package manager hangs when trying to install plugins
  • The update check on the homepage sometimes errors
  • The web GUI on certain pages is really slow - like it takes a minute or more to load the plugins manager same with the Update sub menu
  • Branch isnt deteced in Update menu
  • For plugins to work i have to manually enter this cli to upgrade it that i found on the internet
  • pfSense can ping Ip addresses and resolve domain names when doing tests in diagnostics

Ive reinstalled this twice now with exact same errors. I can confirm internet / routing is working via the cloud provider as I setup remote access to the web gui for my home IP address and can access it remotely.
All ping tests come back steady and stable.

Not real sure what else to do. I liked pfsense in my homelab ages ago as it worked fine but this just seems really strange

If you are using virtualization for pfsense check under “System → Advanced → Networking” and check “Hardware Checksum Offloading” then reboot and see if that fixes it.
