Pfsense random internet dropping out

Hello
Wondering if anyone else has run into this issue i had 2.7.0 no dropouts and then updated to 2.7.2 since doing this i have to reboot every few days the internet just drops out randomly.

I saw a post previously to try and disable wan monitoring which i have now done not sure if this will help yet but figured i would check if anyone else is having this issue

thanks

Have you check the log files ?

Might be helpful if you let us know what you are running it on.

  • Make, model, NIC, drive, RAM, etc.
  • Vanilla install or with additional packages.
  • What ISP gear is it connected to.

Could be hardware, does the same thing happen on your backup router ?

it is running on a asus mother board with intel quad core cpu it has haproxy installed snort and openvpn it is connected to cogeco cable gigabit. its for the nics i have to check im not near it atm. I have contacted the isp and the only thing that seems to have changed is on my end with update from 2.7.0 to 2.7.2 and since that i have been having frequent dropouts. the router is accessable internaly everything in the internal network works and communicates as expected just no internet(in or out) Wan shows an ip and shows it to be up

in the logs should i be looking at a specific log or everything
Im going to check if i have a installer file for 2.7.0 and revert back i have config backkups. Would anyone have the amd64 2.7.0 installer? been so long i forget what one i use but i think the iso

What make of network cards ?

i got back in here is the info

NIC’s

The issue is the realtek network cards, had the exact issue where the internet would just drop.

If you can install intel network card, this should resolve your issue

Search the web for pfsense and realtek network cards - do not work together

i will see what i can find, they have been in this router for 5+ years with no downtime except now with 2.7.2 very weird. i wll replace them and let you know the result

thanks for your help and time

Im still replacing the nics with intel ones but just a update, i found a bad ethernet cable from the cable modem to the router

thanks again
