Pfsense Load balance + upload preference

I got a second wan connection at my house today (yipee!). I followed Tom’s youtube guide and have load balancing and fail over working. This alone makes me so happy! Very glad to have been able to follow the guide and get it working without issue.

My question is, how do I tell pfsense that my fiber is symmetric (1g/1g) and my spectrum (1g/35m) is not. When I am syncing large files to cloud storage it seems to use my spectrum (wan1) gateway more frequently and not the fiber one. I have googled around and watched some vids, I can’t seem to find any clear way to tell it when uploading to prefer one gateway over the other. Maybe I should use the weighting so it tends to pick one over the other? This feels like it will be random since its connation based not traffic/bw based. Anything else I should try to make my uploads more predictably use the faster connection?

Yes, the weights are how that get’s fine tuned, but I would just set the 1G up as the priority as it’s so much faster.

Thanks Tom, honestly, your forum is the best. I have posted here 3-4 times and ever single time you have personally responded and given great advice. Thanks!
