PfSense Interface Question

I have a question regarding WAN interfaces on a 6100. Today I was notified our Texas location was getting a fiber upgrade tomorrow. Originally, I setup WAN interface with Spectrum and for whatever reason after a year or so, it stopped working so after many unsuccessful attempts I set WAN2 as my interface. With this fiber connection going in tomorrow, I figured I would plug in the IP information back under my original interface WAN and applying the settings I immediately lost my VPN connection as well none of our VPN users could connect. I’m a little confused why an interface that is currently NOT the active WAN interface would do that, I broke the routing somehow? Once I got back into the firewall on their local side I simply changed that WAN interface back to DHCP and fixed our VPN issue, guess I am curious why because my experience is limited with pfSense. Thanks

One of these questions, we can not really answer

Have you looked at the logs,

Do you add the wan2 into gateway routing groups,

Hi Paul, I only have the Gateway itself, I have no static or groups setup. What would I look for in logs Paul? I should also mention the changes I made only affected the VPN users, it had no affect to the local network or users.

Hard to say without know what rules and if they were bound to an IP or an interface.
