Anyone know when this is going to be out? Seems like the project is quite stalled. Is this an attempt by netgate to force everyone over to PFPlus?
I know I’ve seen videos since they went to a paid model for PFPlus to go back to community edition.
Sad part is I dont even mind paying for PFPlus but I’m not going to pay over $100 per firewall when I have several of these deployed. Almost seems like they need to have a lower “multi activation token” tier.
Looking at Netgate’s Redmine website they list 2.8.0 still having 31 open issues that need to be addressed. As you mentioned the paid version of pfSense Plus just had the RC released so the production release should be out soon.
Hopefully they will get back to addressing the CE version issues and can get a 2.8.0 RC released. You can see that updates to the list are being made.

I actually just switched to paid plus for a year. I will revaluate in a year if I switch to Unifi. I agree $129 a year is a little steep.
I’ve been evaluating other firewall solutions. Particularly sophos home and UniFi. I have been using pfsense for about 7 years and has served me well. Ever since UniFi has zone based firewall I’ve considered going with that. But then I started down the rabbit hole of UniFi devices and now I want the NVR. So I am probably going to end up with the UDM Pro max. That way down the road I can install my drives and cameras and not have to buy everything up front.
