Nextcloud self hosting

I new i have a security question. I want to install next cloud on my linode server i am using tailscale to ssh into the linode server. Is it a bad idea to set my Nextcloud up in a Linode server?

Thank you

Nope, just use a public/private key pair with SSH for login security. And use 2 factor authentication for console login. I ran Nextcloud on AWS for a long time without issue, until I started self hosting it at home.

Define “bad idea”

If you are concerned about privacy, run it on your own hardware. If you are concerned about someone (not state affiliated) compromising your VM then you don’t have anything to worry about if you follow good security practices such as automatic security updates.
